Cake decorating is an art and a skill and we do it all by hand. There are no machines to pipe a message, shell or scroll a cake and we have some of London's top cake decorators working with us. Each has their own technique and at times this can result in some variations in the finished cake.
Please remember no matter how many times the same cake is made "it will be unique".
Please take your time to read through the following terms and conditions.
Our Cakes are Unique…stuff you should know
All our cakes are baked from scratch.
We do not use any bakery pre-mixes, all our recipes have been developed by us in conjunction with our customers over a number of years.
We have a different recipe for each of the cakes we bake. It’s not just a case of adding cocoa powder to the Madeira to make chocolate or adding a handful of dried fruit to make the light fruit. This means that our Madeira cake is likely to have a different texture/appearance from our coconut Madeira, etc.
We do not add alcohol to our cakes and use only vegetable margarine and vegetable shortening.
We aim to bake our rich fruit cakes in advance to give them time to mature and develop a fuller flavour. All our other cakes are usually baked the week they are required.
We bake all our own cakes and have one of the largest selection of tins available. In square, we can bake from a 4" right up to 24" in all the even sizes and most of the odd ones as well.
Even our 24" square cakes are covered in one piece of sugar paste for a join free finish.
Where possible, we also bake all our standard shape cakes in a tin, to the shape required, which results in a much better finish and shape to the cake.
Most of our novelty cakes are hand carved from large Madeira slabs, using as few pieces as possible to create the finished shape before being filled with raspberry jam and vanilla cream.
Nearly all our models on our cakes are handmade from sugar paste by us. The same applies for the sugar flowers on our wedding cakes.
It is worth remembering that most of the decorations, including pictures, on our cakes are there for the visual effect and you are unlikely to be able to keep them once you cut the cake.
Please remember that the colours on this website might be slightly different from what you get owing to variations in colour produced by different computers and monitors.
Once you have paid a deposit, this is non-refundable.
If you do wish cancel an order, you must let us know in writing. This will avoid you having to pay any outstanding money owed on completed cakes.
When you place an order with us you will be required to leave a deposit. You will be given either a copy of your order (if placed in the shop) or an order reference number. It is important that this is kept as you will need it when you collect your cake.
Please remember that your order reference number is your proof of purchase. A credit card receipt does not constitute proof of order.
We do not take orders over the internet as we like to talk through your order with you. This is our way of making sure you get the exact cake you require
Transporting Your Cake
Ideally you should transport cakes on a level surface i.e. car boot or floor, not a car seat or lap.
We are unable to accept responsibility for cakes once they leave the shop.
We offer a delivery service for your cake if you live within our delivery area for an additional charge.
Our Cake Galleries
The photos on this website are all taken by us and are either of cakes previously designed and made for customers or dummy cakes we have used in our shop displays. You are very likely to see your cake on this website at some time. If you see a cake you bought and have a reason for your cake not to be used please contact us with the cake number for us to consider removing it.
